Happy New Year

Hello Beautiful People. . . .

I hope everyone had a beautiful 2008; but if reading your stories and reading my stories are any indication of the year that is ending. . . it contained some times of pain, heartbreak,  and the like.

But guess what, we made it!  Isn’t that grand!!!!!!    We have another year to love, to give, to start over, to do whatever our heart’s desire.  We have the God given gift of "Free Will!"

We can change our situation with the making up of our minds!  Isn’t that powerful!  We can be happy if we simply will our selves to.  Life isn’t that damn serious!  In fact. . . no matter what happens, life goes on.  Everything changes.  Nothing, not sadness, depression, happiness, or even life itself ever stays the same.

And, we do have some say so on how how life’s cards are dealt to us; especially those of us who are grown ups now!

So let’s vow to make 2009 the life we want it to be and see  what happens!

Happy New Year!!!!

Peace, Light and Love . . . CordieB.

Pondering

Have you ever loved someone so much that it was too painful to hear their voice because you knew inside of you that both of you needed space apart. . . . and you simply could not bare to hear their voice because you knew it would be far too painful . . . . ???

Forgive Your Mother ~Iyanla Vanzant

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my mother. My mother passed away in 1980 and I never really got the chance to tell her how much I loved her.     She suffered a massive heart attack soon after we had an argument and I had left the house.  I hope you find these words as comforting as I found them when I first read them.

Forgive your mother!  Forgive her not for the things she has done or not done or for the things she said or has not said.  Forgive her because it is the only way to open your heart to self-forgiveness.  Forgive her not because you don’t have a right to be upset about the way she has handled some things in her life and in your life.  Forgive her not because she was right in making you feel wrong, or because she was wrong when she failed to acknowledge that you were right.  Forgive your mother because until you do, there will always be a void in your heart.

Forgive your mother for the many, many times she was not the mother you wanted her to be.  Forgive her for the times she did not do things the way you needed them done.  Forgive your mother for not protecting you or speaking out in your behalf.  Forgive her for not guiding you in the right direction and for the times she totally lost her direction, dragging you along with her.  Forgive your mother for demanding things from you that she could not provide for you or for herself.  Forgive your mother whether or not she did anything wrong or bad to you.  Forgive her not because you are excusing whatever she did or however it affected you.  Forgive your mother because holding judgments against her has a devastating impact on your soul.  The judgments you hold will eventually break your heart.  Forgive your mother because the truth is, she did the best she could whether you would like to believe it or not. You may have been harboring judgments or negative opinions about your mother and the way she did or did not mother you.

Just for today, forgive yourself for judging your mother.  Once you do, there will be nothing left to forgive her for.

The Christ Child, By CordieB

Away in a manger a long time ago…
a babe  was born who longed to bring hope.
Three fourths of humanity worship the birth of this child
Yet, so few of us walk the path of the meek and the mild…

So few of strive to love our fellow man…
Though we hate and despise, we worship the Man
So often we use Christ life’s purpose in vain
So few of us love our neighbors as Christ so diligently taught
We’ve turned his his walk into commercialism; that can only be brought

In stores to perhaps give a temporary smile
to those who can afford it…perhaps for a while
While others lay hungry, homeless and poor
we bustle and hustle to all of the stores . . .
Stressing ourselves out to buy more, more and more

We walk into churches each Sunday for Christ’s Sake
pointing fingers at those who have lost all their faith
due to heartless believers who so often spur hate
and pay all our dues to for a religious retreat
yet somewhere a family is cold;  abandoned, with nothing to eat

We speak of our Jesus with majestic love for the Man
never practicing that which He stood for– love for all humans
In fact we even practice hatred in His Holy name
and swear it is Christ-like to inflict such pain

Christ walked this earth to teach us to love
In hope that we not destroy humanity and the earth thereof
When will we practice the lessons taught by the babe who was born
in a manger to parents who were poor, ostracized and forlorn . . . ?

Let us remember the reason for the season by loving our neighbors and start treating others as we would have others treat us.  Christ was about LOVE, PERIOD.  All other agendas we may have are our own.  Let us strive to keep this in mind this season and all seasons.

As always, Peace, Light and Love. . . CordieB.
